It is so important to take a day for yourself and relax, take a break from your to do list even if it is only for a few hours. A day of relaxation is an important part of self-love and your overall wellness. An at home spa day is a great way to destress and practice self care!
Below are ways to de stress and build your prefect at home spa day!
Get Comfortable!
Start by slipping into something comfortable or even something that makes you feel good. This can include a cozy pair of pajamas, a silky loungewear set, or your favorite piece of lingerie.
Ambience is Everything
One of the most important steps is setting the ambience that includes lighting, smell, and hearing.
Lighting
Start by dimming some of the lights in the room this helps your mind take a break from all the harsh bright lights. Also, try incorporating different color lights in your space. The colors pink and green are said to be calming colors .
Smell
For smell, light up your favorite candles or even set up your essential oil diffuser ! Top essential oil scents that can help you relax include Bergamot, Lavender, Peppermint, and Lemon balm just to name a few!
Music
For many people music is already part of their unwinding regime. The type of music can be anything from a spa playlist, instrumentals, or just a playlist filled with mellow songs.
Spotify has a great collection of playlists here are a few you can check out!
- Lo-Fi Beats
- Soft Pop Hits
- Calming Classical
- Calm Vibes
- Cafe Con Leche
- Ocean Escapes
Facial Routine
A facial routine helps you deeply take care of your skin, which is recommended at least once a week
Clean your Face
Start by removing any makeup and cleaning your face from any dirt and oil build up. Use your go to make up remover and then a good refreshing facial cleanser. A pro tip is using warm damp towels to wash the products off your face.
Here is my go to facial cleanser! its super refreshing!
Versed Wash It Out Gel Cleanser
Exfoliate
This step helps you get rid of any dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin. Exfoliating your skin helps with evening out skin texture and helps other products absorb better. Some scrub exfoliators can be a bit harsh for your skin so I recommend a chemical exfoliator like Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant and the favorite AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution from The Ordinary.
Mask
Depending on your facial needs choose your favorite mask that is not too harsh for your skin.
Here are a few favorites
Hydrate
This is the most important step! Hydrating your skin is super good for you. It not only helps put moisture into your skin but it helps, fight wrinkles, acne, and help soothe your skin. Also, don’t forget to moisturize your lips!
